Default How do I add a formula to a cell containing a constant value

Why not use the = key?

Previous versions of Excel had an "=" sign to the left of the formula bar
(rather than the "fx"). If a cell already contained a constant value, the
"="
started a formula beginning with the constant value and took the cursor to
the end of the value. Using the "fx" clears out the data in the cell. Is
there a way to change the options to allow formulas to be created using
the
constant already in the cell, similar to the old version?
