Word, Excel and PowerPoint look for my printer before they open, w
The applications need to know the settings and limitations of the
printer in order to display pages properly. For instance, one printer
may have minimum margins smaller than another; an Excel workbook that
prints on one page on the first printer may require two pages on the
second. (I have a lot of experience with that.)

Every time I open one of the Microsoft Office applications it first looks for
my printer, if it is available it opens quickly but if it isn't it looks for
up to 2 min and then tells me a printer is not available. Is there some
setting I need to change? Why are the two linked if I am not requesting to
print a document, just open it? Would love it if anyone has a resolution for
this issue.
