Interesting. I am still able to open an older version of the file,
but when I make changes, then save as a new file, that is when Excel
crashes. If I were to download OpenOffice, and succeed in opening the
file, I'm not sure the file would be fixed so that my Client and his
associates would be able to open it in their Excel programs. Are you
saying that if I open the file in OpenOffice and save it as a new
file, then open it again in Excel 2002 it may be fixed?

Dave, you were right. I think it has something to do with disabling
macros and/or searching for links to other files which it didn't ask
me before when it was crashing. Now I seem to be able to save the
file as compatable with Excel 97/2000 and it works. Thank you so much.


I'm confused. Dave mentioned using OpenOffice. Where did links and
macros come into play? What was the actual resolution? I have the exact
same problem with MANY in house Excel files and after two weeks I am beat!
I even reloaded one of the machines and it has the same problem.

I tried OpenOffice and that didn't help. BTW, OpenOffice without Java is
96MB.

Please help, I'm in the same boat :(
