I thought you said SUMIF instead of SUMPRODUCT....???? If
sumproduct,something like:
=sumproduct((a2:a22<"a")*b2:b22)
for sumif
=SUMIF(I2:K22,"<a",J2:J22)
or
=SUMIF(I2:K22,"<"&"a",J2:J22)
