Default Excel: How to make conditional formatting work with hyperlink

I used Insert|Hyperlink to add a hyperlink in A1.

Then I used format|Condtional formatting
formula is: True
with a white font

The cell looked empty (although the hyperlink was still there).

Then I clicked on the hyperlink and the text reappeared.

So I tried changing the style (Format|Style) of the cell with the hyperlink to
Normal (from Hyperlink).

It behaved better.

If you ever decide to distribute a workbook with code, you may want to look into
giving that workbook a digital signature. The user will have to accept you as
being a trusted author, but after the initial acceptance, your workbook would
open without prompts.

That works for all formatting options except the forecolor of the hyperlink.

What I want to do:
I have a section of my worksheet that based on a condition, I want it to
disappear. If the condition is true then the formatting is changed to a
white forecolor and backcolor. As well, I don't want to use any macros or
vba to make this happen because then all the users will receive a security
warning (this file contains macros - do you wish to enable/disable macros)
when opening the workbook.

Do you have any suggestions about the hyperlink? Do you know how to get rid
of the security warning without telling every user to reduce their macro
security to low?

Thank you for your help.

I just tried the same thing in xl2003 and it worked fine for me.

If you start a brand new worksheet in a brand new workbook, does it work?

Using Excel 2003, I have placed a hyperlink in a cell. No matter what I do I
can't conditionally format the hyperlink text. I have even set the
condition: Formula is true. Which means that as soon as I press ok, the
formatting should occur immediately. This works for any other cell, other
than those that contain a hyperlink.

Please help.
