Default Inserting?

I'm a reasonably knowledgeable Excel user having had it since my old DOS days
when I ran it with a run time Windows environment. I also know I'm not as
good as some power users I know that really amaze me with what they can do
with Excel.

In any case, I've been using Excel 2007 and am constantly getting it wrong
when trying to insert a new row or column; almost every time.

At the top of the screen is a really obvious Insert tab ... but to my
ongoing frustration, I cannot insert a row or column from there and have to
remember to go back to Home and then find the much less obvious Insert Icon
and then select from the drop down box, the row or column command.

It would seem to me that with all the "usability" enhancements with Office
2007, the conflicting Insert cues would be more clear and having two Inserts
on the same screen seem like a real opportunity for getting it wrong. But
hey, maybe I'm the only one.

I guess over time, I can get over it but would recommend something more clear.

Just a thought.
