This macro takes a path and filename from A1 and writes the date and time of
the last modification to A2

Sub getthedate()
filedate = FileDateTime(Worksheets("Sheet1").Cells(1, 1).Value)
Worksheets("Sheet1").Cells(2, 1).Value = filedate
