Default excel spread sheet protection

Thanks again Paul, In tools all I can see id protect sheet and protect work
book I tried both and they let me open the spread sheet. Can you tell me
where to do this or maybe what I am doing wrong? Thanks Stacey

Stacey, sounds like you put in a password to modify, it will open in read
only, if you select password to OPEN it will ask for a password before the
file opens, so you can't see anything in the file

Thank you paul, that leaves it as read only and that it what I am trying
to
change, I would like it so it can't be read. The computer is used by
different people in the office and most spread sheets and programs have to
be
accessed it's just one or to personal files should be kept that
way,personal.
Is there any other way?

Stacey, file save as then under tools, may be called something else
depending on what version you have, general options, password to open

Is there a way you can check the last entry or even any access into a
spread sheet? Is there a way to stop somebody from opening a spread
sheet
if
they are not welcome
