Here's one way. Assume your 2 equations a

2x + 2y = 8
x + 4y = 7

Place the coefficients of x in A1 and A2, coefficients of
y in B1 and B2, and the constants in C1 and C2. It should
look like this:

A B C
1 2 2 8
2 1 4 7

Select D1:D2, enter the formula below:

=MMULT(MINVERSE(A1:B2),C1:C2)

and press ctrl + shift + enter.
