Default Sort headings?

Is there a way to resort the headings in excel? I know how to sort rows (by
headings) but I would actually like to resort the headings in a file .

Currently we have a report that is automatically generated from a database -
you identify what criteria you want and an excel report is created ... but
the column layout is not very 'user friendly'.

An example of financial info is: Jan Forecast $, Jan Actual spend $, Feb
Forecast $, Feb actual spend $, and so on.

If I just want to calculate quarterly forecasts or even yearly forecasts, my
formula needs to skip every second column ... it gets worse if there are
multiple years on the report).

A macro would not work because the columns may not be in the same position
each time.. depends on the criteria used to generate the report.

If I could sort the columns, then all the forecasts would be grouped
together and formulas would be much easier.
