Default Average based on the previous row

Try this:

I'm assuming there are no empty cells in row 2.

Entered as an array using the key combination of CTRL,SHIFT,ENTER (not just
ENTER):

=AVERAGE(IF(MONTH(B2:FZ2)=1,B3:FZ3))
