Default Entering 3.9 - Excel means that is Date how tu turn off it

That sounds like a mixture of having the cell formatted to date before you
enter the number, and the date separator in Windows/ Regional Options being
set to full stop rather than a slant. Try chaging the cell format to
General before you put in the data, and/or change your Windows date
separator to a slant.
