Default if statement with a range without a cell reference ie, #s 1100 to

assuming that G2 may contain uncertain number beyond your sample

=if(or(g21199,g2<600),"then
what!",if(g2=1100,11,if(g2=1000,10,if(g2=600,6, "why?"))))

I am trying to get the statement to calculate the numbers between 1100 and
1199; 1000 and 1999, and 600 thru 999. That if a number is put into cell g2
that is between 1100 and 1199, 11 will be in cell d. It won't take the range
without having a cell reference.
