Default Chart Type

Below is the answer that solved my problem from Andy Pope

Hi,

The columns are skinny because you are trying to display 30+ columns for
each month.
I think, looking at all your other charts, that you only want to chart the
month headings and the total row.
I have updated the bottom chart.

Setting the axis to category should thicken the columns.

If you want to email me an example workbook I will have a look see.

Thank you for the quick reply and they are dates but the columns are to show
the amount spent in that month and it does show the amount but the column is
stil a single line instead of a column. I changed it like you said but that
did not fix it. Can you help?

Hi,

Sounds like you category axis labels are dates.
If so right click chart and pick Chart Options. On the Axis tab set the
axis type to Category rather than automatic or Time series.

If not post back with a little more detail.

Cheers
Andy
