Default Coloured rows

I've used the formula:
=MOD(ROW(),2)=0

I'm not very well versed in Excel formulas so forgive my ignorance. What the
difference between =0 and =1?

Select all the rows you want coloured.
Use Format | Conditional Formatting
Use Formula is: and enter =MOD(ROW(),2)=1
and then set a pattern (colour for the alternate rows)
best wishes
