Thanks Andy - one last question, is there a way that you can update the
excel
chart and it automatically updates the word document without
importing/copying the chart again?

Thanks so much for your prompt response!

I think you are right.
If there is a report to be written supplemented by a diagram the report
should be written using the report writing package, Word, and the
diagram brought in. Not the other way around.

Andy,

Thanks for the info, I am going to do the tutorial from the website you
mentioned. These charts are inserted into a word document, I'm helping
someone create a control chart, they insert it into a word document
(report),
but they want to type the text from the report in excel rather than
inserting
the chart in word, I advised against it, what do you think? I told
them use
the import/copy chart into the word document as it would not be user
friendly
to type that much text in excel.\

Thanks

Rhonda

Hi,

For more info have a look here,

Adding text is done by selecting the chart and then just typing text.
When you press <ENTER the textbox should appear.

I have not created a control chart before, so please excuse my
ignorance. A
few questions:

1. If a quality control chart is a part of a report (in MS Word),
should it
be imported or copied into a MS word document (there is text also in
this
report) or can you type the text in excel so that you don't have to
import or
copy the control chart in MS Word

2. How is it best to start a control chart?

3. How do you add text inside the chart? How do you change the line
appearance

4. Are line formats best to use for a control chart?

Again, excuse my ignorance, I appreciate any information and your
promptness
in advance.

Rhonda
