We are using Excel (office 2000), and have Shared and
protected a workbook. The file is also password protected
for modifications. When one person is in the workbook
modifying the file, the next person attempting to enter
the file is presented with a dialog box that says who is
already in the file. The new user can then choose to be
notified of when the current person modifying is through,
or they can enter as read only. Is this the way it is
supposed to work?

I thought that as shared workbook would allow more than
one person to be in the workbook and to modify?

Would YOU be happy working on a workbook with the knowledge that someone
else was mofiying things which you had no control over? I know I
certainly would NOT!
