Use Auto filter... Select the entire worksheet by clicking at top left
portion of the worksheet. Then in a column, filter for blank. All blank
rows will be displayed. Select these and delete.

When I go to the change data source option in the pivot table menu, in
the resultant dialog box, the radio button to connect to external data
