Default Format Cells - Architectural Dimensions

yes,i am sure it can be done, but the completeness of the solution will depend
upon how you want to use the resulting numbers. What do you mean by "sort and
average".what happens to the data afterwards, how is the data input or
imported.

Can I format cells to use architectural dimensions so that I can sort and
average dimensions? I need to be able to enter and work with numbers that
look like:

2'-6"
3'-8"

I'd rather not convert to inches if I don't have to. If I did that, I would
want a macro to figure out the math (i.e., 3'-8" - 44") since I have a lot of
data to deal with. Also, the nubmers are given to me in dimensions, and I
don't want to convert in my head as I enter data.

Thanks for any info.
