Default default template at startup

Hi Dave and Gord,
Thanks for your help but I managed to fix it myself. I just took the
template out of the XLSTART folder and saved it elsewhere on my computer. Now
it doesn't open when I start Excel, but I can still choose to base new
workbooks on this template by using filenew.
Thanks,
Amy

If you truly saved the workbook as a Template, it will not open at startup.

BOOK.XLT templates in the XLSTART folder has to be opened via FileNew or using
the New File Icon.

To stop Book1.xls from opening, append /e to your Excel shortcut.

i.e. "C:\PROGRAM FILES\MICROSOFT OFFICE\OFFICE11\EXCEL.EXE" /e

Hi,

I created a template and saved it in the XLSTART folder, so that it would
open every time I started Excel. That turned out to be annoying because
usually when I start Excel I want to work on an existing document rather than
start a new one, so I have to close the Book1 workbook every time.

My question is, where should I move the template to (instead of the XLSTART
folder) so that it is still the default template used if I start a new
workbook, but so that it does not open on startup?

Thanks.
