Marcelo: Thanks for the response, but it didn't work.
When I re-opened the conditional formatting box, it now looks like this:
="A1=5"
Excel added the equal sign on the left and the quotes.
What did I do wrong?

Greetings:
Is it possible to apply conditional formatting to a cell which is NOT
the
cell being modified?
For example, if I enter a 5 in cell A1, can Excel change the background
color of cell B1 to yellow?
(I know this can be done with VBA, but I'm wondering if there is a way
to do
it with conditional formatting.)
Feedback is appreciated. Thanks.
