Default Excel 2003 won't save customized changes

I tried that and it still only comes up with the one file that it finds. Any
other ideas?

Sometimes those *.xlb files can be difficult to find.

I'd try this:

close excel
shell to DOS
windows start button|Run
cmd (windows 2k/xp)
command (windows 98)

At the DOS prompt:
C: (to get to the C: drive)
cd\ (to get to the root directory)

dir *.xlb /s

the /s means to search through subdirectories.

Maybe you'll be able to see/delete/rename the files.

I verified that there is only one .xlb file. I have tried deleting it and
letting Excel recreate. Still won't work. I can move the toolbars around
and it will keep that setting, but when I drag a button to add to a toolbar
(like Fill Down, or Fill Right), the button appears, then doesn't come back
when I close Excel and come back in.

Do you have multiple *.xlb files--maybe one in XLStart where it doesn't belong.

It could be that you have a second file opening after the first one opens (with
the correct toolbars).

The second *.xlb file supersedes the first.

I am trying to get Excel 2003 to save any changes I make to my toolbars, like
add different buttons and such, but they go away whenever I restart Excel.
It just started happening. I checked and it seems like the XLB file is
getting update. I even deleted the XLB file and let it recreate only to
still have the same problem. Any ideas? Thanks.
