I would unplug the keyboard while Excel is running. This would tell you
whether it's a keyboard hardware failure.

Hi Gord,

Yep it's blinking on and off. Just can't work out what it is. :-( But
it's really annoying and makes Excel nearly useless.

The SCRL flashing in the status bar would be a Windows and Keyboard
thing as
as I know unless this a new "feature" of Excel 2003.

I have 2003 installed but can't get the SCRL to flash.

When you say "flashing" do you mean it is actually blinking on/off
asking for
attention?

Or do you mean something else?

I am out of suggestions.

Hi Gord,

Thanks for the links, but this doesn't seem to have fixed the problem
I'm
having. I've run the top reg file, restarted Windows, opened up Excel
(new
sheet) and still the scrolling is screwy. Perhaps I should reinstall
Excel,
maybe this will reset the defaults settings?

Many thanks for the links,

Kol

Jason Tsang has a couple of .REG files that will allow you to reverse
the
default behaviour of the F Lock key or disable it.

One will change the default to "Off".

The other will eliminate the F Lock feature totally. This one I use!!

Both are Zips have an Undo.REG and a Readme.txt file with them.

Hi, Gord:

How did you disable the F-Lock key? Is there a way to make the F-keys
behave
normally all of the time, without having to press F-Lock?

Do you have the MS Multimedia keyboard with the F Lock Function key?

If so, tap it then try the ScrLk again.

I hate the damn F Lock key and have disabled mine.

Hello,

I have Excel 2003. I am not sure what I have done but "SCRL" is
flashing in
the bottom right part of the status bar in Excel. I am having
problems
scrolling around the screen but can't see a pattern (i.e. it doesn't
scroll
at all but scroll's sometimes). I've tried hitting the ScrLk button
but
that doesn't seem to make a difference.

What have I done and is there a way to correct it?

Hope someone can help, it must be an Excel setting as I can send the
same
Excel sheets to work and have no problem at all but does affect
every
Excel
sheet on my home computer (including new sheets).
