If you reference another workbook in a formula, the initial formula will
reflect the values in those workbooks. However. When you re-open the workbook
Excel will ask you if you want to update the values, if you select No the
formulas will show the last result, if you select Yes it will re-run all the
formulas using data currently held in those other workbooks.
You don't need to have the other workbooks open, but you do need to tell
Excel whether you want it to use the most up-to-date values from those other
files.
