Default Using conditional formatting to "blank" cells

Hi,

I've got a spreadsheet with some check boxes in it. When one of the
checkboxes is "checked", I want some new cells to appear that wouldn't
be visible if the checkbox is left "unchecked".

To achieve this, I've used conditional formatting to make the cells'
background colour black if the checkbox is unchecked, thus "hiding"
them. When the box is checked, the appropriate text appears. However, I
want the user to be able to input data into a couple of the boxes, but
obviously there is an IF formula in these boxes at present, and if data
is entered, the IF formula will be erased.

Is there any way around this?

Sorry if my explanation's a little complicated.

Thanks.
