I suspect that you have a more specific question in mind.

However, in general, OLE, is an acronym for Object Linking and Embedding,
which is a compound document standard developed by Microsoft.

OLE enables objects created in an OLE aware application to be linked or
embedded in another OLE compatible application. Embedded objects retain
their original format and links to the parent application.
