Using the figures in your example........

1000 spent on 10 people.

100 per person.

300 brought you sales.

300/1000 = 30%

In A1 enter 1000

In B1 enter 300

In C1 enter =B1/A1 and format as Percentage.

Or more simply use 10 people and 3 sales and 3/10 = 30%

We are trying to setup an Excel spreadsheet that will track the amount of
money spent on Advertisment and what percentage of that money spent brought
us direct sales. We are tracking the number of people that come in and take
a tour, the number of people that take a tour and buy a lot. The amount
money spent on Advertisment. We know how to set this part of the spreadsheet
up. We then want to figure out what percentage of the money spent on
advertisment brought us direct sales. So, if we spent a 1000.00 on
adverstisment, and we gave 10 people a tour, and 3 people who took the tour
bought a lot, what would be the percentage? We don't what function to use.
We do know how to write basic formulas, but have never try doing much with
percentages. Please advise.
