In the number field I want the total of all the numbers in
them fields, not the total of the rows.

One way - Select all your data and use Data / Subtotals -
Hide the detail
and show just the summaries. Select all, do Edit / Go
to / special /
visible cells only, then copy and paste into another
sheet.
