characters in a cell
But if you look in Excel's help for specifications, you'll see that excel
(xl97+) will hold lots of characters:
From xl2003's help:
Feature Maximum limit
Length of cell contents (text) 32,767 characters. Only 1,024 display in a cell;
all 32,767 display in the formula bar.
====
In fact, if you pepper alt-enters (to force a new line within the cell) every
80-100 characters, you'll be able to see way more that those documented 1024
characters.

How many characters can be typed in a cell? I know that the column width
says 255 characters. But with word wrap there can be more, is this correct?
I could not find any info on the ms web site. Thanks,
