Default using queries in templates

I would like to use a query in an Excel template. I want it to run every time
I use the template to create a new workbook. I also need it to prompt the
user for information.

I am trying to have Excel import a class list from an Access query. I need
it to filter data based on the class that the gradebook (purpose of Excel
workbook) is for.
