Possibly you can use VLOOKUP for the first question, hard to
tell from the information supplied see
http://www.mvps.org/dmcritchie/excel/vlookup.htm
The second question can be answered okay.
You might use an Event macro in the ThisWorkbook
Right click on the logo to the left of the menus in Excel
That should put you into ThisWorkBook of the current project (workbook)
Place the following code therein.
Sub WorkBook_Open()
WorkSheets("Sheet1").Activate
End Sub

Is there any way I can build a search tool in excel so that I can
retrieve data from another sheet. i.e. the search tool is built in
sheet1 and it can filter and retrieve data from sheet2.
Also is there a way of setting excel so that regardless of what sheet I
may save the document it ALWAYS opens on sheet1.
Please advice.
