Outlook 2002 calendar dates exported to Excel 2002 sort incorrectl

Hello all. I need to sort this info that I exported (as an Excel file) from
Outlook calendar (text view). I would like to sort first by €śsubject€ť
(alphabetically) and second by €śStartDate€ť (in ascending date order). All is
well until we get to €ś12/13/05€ť (see above). The New Math they taught me
states that Dec. 13, 2005 comes before Jan. 13, 2006. Ive tried €śhelper€ť
columns (where I pasted as €śvalue€ť, then successfully formatted as mm/dd/yy),
going to serial view, text-to-columns, emailing it my sister, unlocking
protection and sleeping all night in my chair with the mouse in hand. Im
assuming its tainted by Outlook somehow. Any suggestions? Thanks in
