total, adding the cells in the colum together. When I change lets say cell
D50's number in it, the total at the end must also change reflecting the
number that was changed in this cell. Now when I change any cell in the
colum's value, the total stays the same.

I treid re-installing, repairing & redoing the formula...no luck. By the way:
When I open a new worksheet and do formulas in it, all is well in that sheet.

Seems like only the recent(last week or so) work is effected?
