Excel 2000/XP in Windows 2000 domain environment:

I have several .xls files that have links to other files. Both the file and
the files to which it is linked are located on a mapped network drive. The
links show the correct network path, but for some reason, the links quit
working. The cell shows the correct path to the linked file/worksheet/cell,
but will not update. Attempts to update open the file locator browse dialog.

Edit - Links - shows Unkown
Check Status - shows Error: Source not found

The Location is the correct location of the file. The network path & file
name in one example is 98 characters long, nowhere near 255, so I am sure
this is not a length issue.

Change Source - when I locate the same file that is in Location, then the
status changes from Error: Source not found to OK.
