Deconstruct it. That is, select the cell containing this formula,
press [F2] to go into Edit mode, highlight the critical portion

(a1:a10="ford")*(b1:b10="June")

and press [F9] to evaluate it. What do you get? Do you understand why
it looks the way it does?
