Default hide a column in a worksheet and password protect

Not really...

In xl2002+, you can protect the worksheet and allow users to edit certain ranges
if they have a password.

But the protection that this offers isn't very strong. Worksheet protection is
easily broken. If you don't want that data to be seen by others, don't put it
in excel--or don't share that workbook with others.
