Default Formula Displays in One Cell

I am creating a multi-page workbook. On Sheet 1, there is a cell where users
can type in their name. On the Sheet 2, I want the name to automatically
appear based on what is typed in Sheet 1. In the cell where I want the name
to automatically appear, I type "=", and then I go back to Sheet 1 and click
the cell where users type their name. After I click Enter, the formula
appears in the cell, rather than the result. I have several other similar
