Use Sum for both columns.

Then you'll end up with subtotal formulas like:

=subtotal(9,a2:axx)
and
=subtotal(9,c2:cxx)

Select the column that should have averages and
edit|replace
what: =subtotal(9,
with: =subtotal(1,
replace all
