Be sure to write down what font you are using and the numbers you used
so you can use that symbol again later.

The down side of this is you still don't get the nice hanging indent
like you do in Word (so text lines up under each other and bullet it
out to the left), but if you've got to do the work in Excel, this is
one way to do it, and pasting a bulleted list from Word doesn't hold
the indent either.
