Hi

i've getting an invalid link to your file please post further details in a
reply post e.g. the cell reference of abs & exc.
However, you can use IF statements in formulas e.g.
=IF(A6="abs",formula1,IF(A6="exc",formula2,formula 3))
where formula1,2 & 3 are your three different sum formulas.

hope this helps
Cheers

I am trying to do the following in a column to display 'Final Mark'.
There are 3 cells, each containing a mark for Test 1, Test 2, and Test
3. These can easily be added together etc using
=SUM(C6*100*0.15/100,E6*100*0.15/30,G6*100*0.7/100).

The catch is I have fields called "abs" and "exc". I need to change the
formula to edit the Final Mark like so in eg1.jpg:

my layout is eg2.

What I need to know is how do I get my end formula to do this :

IF "EXC_M1" DO Formula1 ELSE NormalFormula
IF "EXC_M2" DO Formula2 ELSE NormalFormula
IF "EXC_M3" DO Formula2 ELSE NormalFormula

NormalFormula being =SUM(C6*100*0.15/100,E6*100*0.15/30,G6*100*0.7/100)
when there isnt a "abs" or "exc"
