Default RUNNING TOTAL


LOST IN EXCEL 2000 Wrote:
RETAIL VALUE IN COLUMN A1; SALES TAX IN COLUMN B1; SUBTOTAL IN COLUMN
C1; AND
RUNNING TOTAL IN COLUMN D1.
RETAIL VALUE IN COLUMN A2; SALES TAX IN COLUMN B2; SUBTOTAL IN COLUMN
C2;
AND RUNNING TOTAL FORMULA IN COLUMN D2 WHICH SAYS:
=SUM(D1,C2). THIS GIVES ME THE CORRECT ANSWER IN COLUMN D2. HOWEVER,
WHEN
I COPY THE FORMULA DOWN THE ROWS IN COLUMN D THE SAME AMOUNT REPEATS
ITSELF
OVER AND OVER AGAIN IN EVERY ROW. IN OTHER WORDS THE SAME RUNNING
TOTAL THAT
I GOT IN D2 ENDS UP GOING INTO D3,D4,D5,D6, ETC. I DON'T WANT THE
CALCULATED RUNNING TOTAL TO SHOW IN D3 UNTIL I HAVE ENTERED THE
SUBTOTAL IN
C3. HOW DO I PREVENT THE RUNNING TOTAL FROM APPEARING OVER AND OVER
AGAIN
UNTIL I HAVE ENTERED THE SUBTOTAL?????????????????Hi Lost,

Please don't type in all upper case.

Try this in D2 and copy down, as far as you need.
=IF(C2="","",(SUM(D1,C2)))
