You can hide all the comment indicators:

Manually -- Choose ToolsOptions, and on the View tab, for Comments,
choose None

Or, programmatically, e.g.:

Application.DisplayCommentIndicator = xlNoIndicator

If the markers are hidden the comments won't pop up
