Hi Bob thank you for you reply but Excel says that the formula is not working
even if I change the H99 to H18 where the figures are? what could be wrong?
Where should I swich out the A and B to the names that are there?
Thank you.

You said ... but if C-8 were B it should use a similar formula but in a
different cell area but same circumstance ... but didn't say what that cell
was so I took a pot at H99. Change it to suit.

C12:
=IF(C8="A",INDIRECT("'Sheet2'!H"&4+C10),INDIRECT(" 'Sheet2'!H"&99+C10))

Hello and thanks for looking and helping on this problem:
I have been trying to find a formula that could help me with this
problem
I have 2 drop down list one ranging from 1-10 in C-10 and in C-12 I
wanted
to have a formula that would get the right number from another sheet
in
h-5
to H-14 (all numbers) in my simple mind it would look something like
this:
If C-10 is 1 use cell in other worksheet H-5
If C-10 is 2 use cell in other worksheet H-6
and so on to 10
but in the other drop down list I have names (C-8) and lets say that
the
names are A and B if I use A the formula in C-12 should use the above
formula
but if C-8 were B it should use a similar formula but in a different
cell
area but same circumstance ?
Is this possible???
Thank you for hearing me out and sorry for the spell
