Default linking customer database to invoices in excel

Can someone please explain how I can put customers into a database in excel
or access and then just click on them to add to an invoice in excel? I
already have a template in excel for invoices that I would like to use, but
its a real pain typing in each customer each month. that has to be an easier
way.
