Default Autofilter stops responding

Hi there,

I am having a weird problem with an Excel workbook. Unfortuantely I am
unable to recreate the error and it happens randomly!

The spreadsheet we use is 14MB (I know this may be quite large), and it
has one master sheet that holds all of the data (client details, sales
person, etc) and has about 40(ish) columns (including hidden columns)
and nearly 9000 rows of data.

This master sheet feeds information into 12 other worksheets (not
workbooks) and these sheets use the information to create Pivot Tables,
Charts, Tables, etc. As you could imagine, it would be near impossible
to have to recreate the file or copy the sheet in to a new sheet.

The problem causes the Autofilters to stop responding. You can be
working away no problems and all of a sudden when you come to click on
a filter nothing happens (i.e. the dropdown list does not appear). The
spreadsheet is still responding because you can still do everything
else you want to and you can remedy the problem by removing the filter
and reapplying it. After doing that, you need to choose "All" from each
autofilter to show all the data and start again.

Hope someone can shine some light on this problem.

Thanks

Gaz
