I put a checkbox from the control toolbox toolbar on a worksheet.

I doubleclicked on that checkbox to see its code.

I put this code in that window.

Option Explicit
Private Sub CheckBox1_Click()
ActiveCell.Activate
End Sub

Then I went back to excel. I protected the worksheet and when I clicked on the
checkbox, the activecell was re-selected.
