Default Duplicate Entries

I pull reports into Excel that have multiple columns of data (surprise!).
Anyway, sometimes there are, within a given column (of names for example) as
many as 4000 entries and many of these entries duplicate. I know how to
filter and focus on one name at a time. I know I can look in the filter
options and see each name, but when there are hundreds of names, manually
copying from there is not an option.

What I'd like to do is "condense" the column of names into a single record
for each unique entry. I don't mind having to cut the data and paste it
somewhere outside the table, if that's required.

Just to make sure I'm conveying my goal, I offer the following example.
Column C has 200 name entries in it, John Smith shows up 20 times, Ed Jones
shows up 100, and Bob Brown shows up 80. I'd like to be able to reduce this
to a list of their three names only - eliminating the duplicates.
