Create a new column and extract the digits from the other cell. Then sort by
that column.

If your data looks like:
XX####
(always two alphas followed by the numbers)
it might be as simple as:

=--mid(A1,3,255)

Other formulas would depend on what your data looks like. You may want to post
a representative sample.
