Running Excel models across a WAN link
Network bandwidth does not appear to be the bottleneck.
As far as I know Excel doesn't go into slow mode when dealing with remote
files, so the problem is likely something to do with the network broadly
speaking. I certainly notice that file opening and saving is a lot slower
on a server than on my local drive. One common issue is virus checking on
the server when a file is saved. That slows things down for sure,
especially for large files.
