Default Excel slow on saving

Rodney,

A re-install in the last thing I would do.
I would uncheck that autosave.
I would delete the user8.xlb file.
I would clean out the temporary internet files and the recycle bin.
If I did not use/have/want optical recognition software then
I would remove the TBRUN9.xls file from the xlStart folder -
and/or uninstall the program.
I would make sure I have Excel service release 2 (SR2) installed.
I would check my anti-virus software to make sure it is not running
live checks on the spreadsheets...Norton | Options | Other and
uncheck "Enable Office Plug-in.
I would disable the find fast indexer...
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=158705
I would review any other references to Excel save problems that
I know about.
Then I would consider a re-install.

Hope that helps.

Just a FYI,
I can open a new "workbook" takes a fraction of a second.
I can close that workbook, takes a fraction of a second.
I can type one single character in 1 cell eg "a"
then it takes 40 seconds to close.
must have trouble somehow writing to disk
Do you think it wise to uninstall, then re-install MSOffice?
